Hi Heather,
Karma is where other people have the chance to applaud you on your posts. So in other wordds if someone thinks you have been posting good lately then they will click the + button on the Karma Bar, but on the other hand if they think your posts have been rubish then they will click the - button and that then takes the numbers is to -1 then -2 and so on. So to get +1 is a good job. The whole point of Karma is that people remain "unknown" so you can not seen who has voted on you!!!!
